Baba & Nyonya Heritage Museum

Located in the historic city of Malacca, the Baba-Nyonya Heritage Museum offers visitors a fascinating insight into the history and traditions of the Peranakan culture, commonly known as Baba-Nyonya. This distinctive community traces its roots to Chinese settlers who arrived in the region centuries ago and gradually blended their heritage with local Malay customs through intermarriage.  

The museum is housed in a beautifully preserved Straits Chinese shophouse, where visitors can explore an impressive collections of antiques and cultural artifacts. Display include traditional garments, intricately crafted jewelry, porcelain, and household items that reflect the refined lifestyle and rich heritage of the Baba-Nyonya families.

Guided tours provide deeper insight into the community's unique tradition including their distinctive language, celebrated cuisine and elaborated cultural practices such as a colorful wedding ceremonies.
